Comfrey salve with naturally occurring allantoin. The salve is not sticky and absorbs easily into the skin.
Contains 100% natural oils and fats Comfrey, Symphytum officinale (in Swedish "vallört", where "vall" comes from "välla", meaning the healing of wounds and broken bones), has been used as a medicinal plant since the ancient Greeks – Dioscorides, c. 40–90 BC.
Comfrey is said to repair damaged tissue quickly and is reputed to shorten healing time for, for example, broken bones and sports injuries.
Allantoin occurs naturally in comfrey (0.6–0.8%); it stimulates cell renewal and tissue regeneration and speeds up the healing process. The tannins in the plant (4–6.5%) have an antiseptic effect. It has been used for broken bones, periostitis, tendinitis, slow-healing wounds, eczema, varicose veins and sprained joints (source: Juneby).
Allantoin is anti-inflammatory, astringent and moisture-retaining.
